Measurement of the Induced Magnetic Polarisation of Rotated-Domain Graphene Grown on Co Film with Polarised Neutron Reflectivity

In this paper, we determine the magnetic moment induced in graphene when grown on a cobalt film using polarised neutron reflectivity (PNR). A signal was detected by X-ray circular dichroism (XMCD) spectra at C K-edge. From XMCD sum rules an estimated of 0.3 μB/C atom, while more accurate estimation 0.49 atom obtained carrying out PNR measurement 300 K. The results indicate that higher Co is counterbalanced larger lattice mismatch between Co-C (1.6%) and slightly longer bond length, inducing similar to reported Ni/graphene heterostructures.
